Atrial Fibrillation and Endothelial Dysfunction

چکیده
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia, and coronary atherosclerosis leading cause of death in United States worldwide. Endothelial dysfunction earliest clinically detectable form atherosclerosis. Control shared AF risk factors improves both AF-free survival vascular endothelial function. Decades research have yielded fundamental insight into pathophysiology, but current pharmacological catheter-based invasive therapies limited long-term efficacy substantial side effects, possibly because incomplete understanding underlying complex pathophysiology. We hereby discuss potential mechanistic links between (risk-factor–associated systemic inflammation oxidative stress, myocardial ischemia, gene variants, shear fibroblast growth factor-23), explore a new dimension to highlight growing body evidence supporting an association dysfunction, AF, stroke, effective therapies.

متن کاملAcute onset human atrial fibrillation is associated with local cardiac platelet activation and endothelial dysfunction.
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to determine whether acute onset atrial fibrillation (AF), independent of other risk factors, predisposes to an early prothrombotic state. BACKGROUND Several risk factors predispose to the hypercoagulable state in human AF, but whether acute onset AF alone is prothrombotic remains unclear. METHODS Patients with paroxysmal AF (n = 22) underwent radiof...
متن کاملLeft Atrial Diastolic Dysfunction following Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation.
Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA)-induced thermal injury may cause and/or worsen left atrial (LA) diastolic dysfunction leading to pulmonary hypertension and heart failure in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF), the incidence of which is probably more common than is generally realized. Biplane 2-dimensional echocardiography coupled with tissue Doppler (velocity) imaging and Doppler-der...
متن کاملsingle beat determination of intraventricular systolic dyssynchrony in patients with atrial fibrillation and systolic dysfunction.
results: the average of dyssynchrony in eight cycles showed a positive correlation with dyssynchrony in target beat rr1/rr2 = 1. average of dyssynchrony in target beat was 46.77 msec, and average of 8 cycle was = 47.701, (p value = 0.776, pearson linear correlation 0.769). objectives: we proposed to evaluate intraventricular mechanical dyssynchrony by measuring time-to-peak systolic velocity be...
